Salome S. Perez Jr., 91 of Sonora, Texas, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born the thirteenth child of Salome and Maria Perez on December 3, 1926 in Sonora, Texas. He was preceded in death by his infant son, David Perez, his parents, and his twelve siblings. He proudly served his country during World War II in Japan. Upon returning to his hometown, he married his long-time sweetheart, Felicitas Ramirez. During his abundant life, he was a pillar of the community, serving on the Sonora School Board, coaching Little League, and was the town barber for over 50 years cutting hair for generations of the community. He was a Godly man who served as a leader in the local Baptist church and was a friend to so many. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Better known to his grandchildren as “Honey”, since that was the name their Granny called him; the name stuck. He will be missed tremendously by all but there is peace in knowing that he is with our Heavenly Father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Fela; sons, Sam (Lyn) Perez of Ben Bolt, Texas; Peter (Michele) Perez of Round Rock, Texas; daughters, Bonnie Aguero of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Ruth Ramos of Sonora, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Robbie, Zeke, Zach, Jake, Isaac, Samantha, Caleb, Mikey, and Max; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Sonora, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 111 East Oak Street, Sonora. Interment will follow at Sonora Cemetery.
