LOUISE MAE BYTHEWAY SMITHHART FAULKS Louise Mae Faulks “Granny Lou, Mama Lou”, 95 years old, passed away on January 22, 2019. Lou was born November 26, 1923 to Mabel Rose and Thomas South Bytheway in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had two brothers, Tom and Earl. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Husband Curly Faulks, both brothers, first husband Miles Smithhart and her only son - Wayne Smithhart. She is survived by 5 of her children. Jean B. Fisher, Julie Ann Watkins, Jill (Janelle)Hale, Jerri Lynn Warren, Jenni Sue Mooneyham, 13 grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, Son-n-laws: Skip Watkins, Woody Warren, Mike Hale & Kip Mooneyham, special daughter Kathy Kelton and many nieces and nephews. She moved to Sonora from San Angelo after marrying Curly Faulks in February, 1973. She lived there until May, 2007 when she was moved to the Dallas area to live with her children. Lou volunteered for the American Cancer Society where she raised many funds to help fight cancer. She was named Citizen of the Year for Sonora in 2003. She was happiest when she was with her family or being of service to others. She excelled at sewing, especially making baby blankets and enjoyed working in the yard, all and any babies, cooking and baking. Many Sonora folks were very happy when she would deliver pumpkin rolls and other goodies to them at various times of the year. She opened her home to “her” extra children throughout the years that still call her Mom. She was loving and giving and had many dear friends. Her family loves her and will miss her enormously. Graveside Services will be held at the Sonora Graveyard on Sunday January 27, 2019 at 1:00 at the Sonora Cemetery.
