John Sullivan Walker

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved John Sullivan Walker, Johnny. He arrived at his heavenly home on January 13, 2025, Johnny left us surrounded by love and with the memories of a life well lived. John Sullivan Walker was born in Gonzales, Louisiana, on July 3, 1953, to John Ellison Walker and Elizabeth Mae Wurtz Walker. He was the second youngest of six siblings. Johnny is joined in heaven by his father John Ellison Walker, his mother Elizabeth Mae Wurtz Naquin “Ma Betty,” his stepfather Joseph Alvin Naquin “Papa Alvin,” and his sisters Pam and Lorraine. Johnny is survived by his loving wife Sherry Kay Walker, son Dossie Cribbs and wife Daralynn, son Jodie Cribbs and Brandi, daughter Autumn Walker, daughter Cheyenne Walker and Shea, sister Madeline Kelly and husband Danny, sister Sybil Walker Hunt, brother Danny Walker, eight (8) grandchildren, and one (1) great-grandson and another on the way.

Born and raised in Louisiana with a childhood full of Cajun adventures. As a young adult Johnny moved out to Texas. It was in Alpine, Texas, that Johnny met the love of his life, Sherry, whom he married in November of 1983 in Alpine, Texas. Together, Johnny and Sherry raised a beautifully blended family with their daughter Autumn Walker, their two sons Dossie and Jodie Cribbs, and their daughter Cheyenne Walker. Over the course of 42 years together Johnny and Sherry never left each other’s side. Together, they had a marriage full of grace, hard work, and an abundance of love and happiness; one we all pray to have. Johnny held a wonderful career that he was immensely proud of at the company of Halliburton for 30 plus years that took him and his family all over the state of Texas and Alabama. After retiring from Halliburton, Johnny could not stay idle long, and he quickly re-entered into a career of Consulting in the oil industry.

Johnny loved his title of being a father and husband. In time, his role of Grandpa came into fruition, a title that he cherished and held proudly. Over the years Johnny became the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and one great-grandson, Grandpas love and nurturing spirit knew no bounds.

Johnny Walker was a hardworking man that always knew exactly how to fix or get something done for anyone who needed a helping hand. His hardworking hands could build, fix, or repair anything, whether it was carpentry work, mechanical work, or way out on in the oil industry. In the little time that Johnny did not have his firm yet gentle hands hard at work, you could find him fishing, throwing a ball with his grand kids, full filing all his wife’s crazy ideas, or boiling some crawfish with his family and friends. Johnny Walker was a selfless man; he was a giver in every aspect of the word and always went out of his way to give a helping hand to all.Johnny’s family, friends, and all who knew him will miss him more than words can say.
