James Franklin Belk

James Franklin Belk 74, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, after a brief illness. Jimmy was born on April 10, 1947 in Schleicher County to Henry Abijah Belk and Dixie Gertrude Faught. He attended school in Eldorado, Texas, and graduated from high school in 1965. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a BA in Ag Education. He briefly taught in Georgia before returning to Texas to pursue his love of ranching. After four years of managing a ranch for Pennzoil in Central Texas, he returned to Eldorado to ranch on his own. He preconditioned cattle and was a crop appraiser for many years. He made many friends with farmers and ranchers all across Texas. Jimmy loved God, his family, his friends, a good horse and a good dog and all children. He believed a man’s word was his bond and a handshake was his signature. He was preceded in death by his parents H. A. and Dixie Belk and a brother-in-law, James Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Eldorado; a son, Jamey Belk (Krista) of Canadian; a daughter Mandy Holland (Kenny) of Dillon, Montana; sisters Jane Alexander of San Angelo; Gainell Bagwell of Dimmitt, Texas; a brother Allen Belk (Elsie) of Winters; two grandsons, Jace Belk of Canadian and Bryce Holland of Dillon, Montana.. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Eldorado and a founding member of Brushy Top Cowboy Church. Services will be held at Brushy Top Cowboy Church in Eldorado on Saturday, January 15th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in the Eldorado Cemetery.
