Sonora, Jack Harrell Sharp, 88 passed away peacefully Saturday, November 18, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Jack was born September 29, 1929 in Sanderson, Texas. He and his family moved to Sonora in 1942, where he resided his entire life. He graduated from Sonora High School in 1948, where he was a member of the first Bronco Football team that played under electric lights. Jack met the love of his life, Peggy Willman, while attending school in Sonora. The two were married on January 6, 1951, six days before he left to serve in the United States Army on January 12, 1951. He was stationed in Korea until November 12, 1952, when he returned home to start his family. Jack held various jobs until June of 1957, when he went to work for El Paso Natural Gas. He retired from EPNG in 1994, after 37 years. Jack enjoyed and was active in youth sports, serving as a referee and umpire over 10 years. He was a member of Dee Ora Masonic Lodge #715 for 45+ years, and was an Endowed Member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Peggy Willman Sharp, a daughter Katherine Sharp of Dickenson, Texas, a son Mickey Sharp and wife Storie of Glen Rose, Texas, and two grandchildren Garret and Dawsyn, that he adored and spoiled rotten. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Lynn Burchell,R.N., with Alvis F. Johnson Home Health and Hospice and her helpers, Kyle, Pat, and Letty for all that they did to assist over the last two and a half months.
