Amalia M. Galindo

June 27, 1940 — November 19, 2022

Amalia M. Galindo 82, born June 27, 1940, was reunited with her beloved husband, Mario Y. Galindo, on November 19, 2022. Amalia was a devoted Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. Cooking, baking, sewing and her tremendous love of children were her passion. Amalia married Mario Y. Galindo on April 25, 1969, and was blessed to be walked down the isle by both her father and her father-in-law. In September 1977, they were blessed with a child, Lori Ann, who became their entire world. Mario and Amalia were employees of the Wool and Mohair. During the infamous annual Fling Ding, she served coffee, along with her sisters while Mario parked cars. My dad gave my mom everything he could, working 3 jobs for 20 years to make sure she was ok. I helped enroll her in a college course for decorating cakes. After completion, there was no stopping her. She made cakes for holidays, anniversaries, weddings and everyone always received their favorite cake from their beloved “Tia.” Mario and Amalia were life-long parishioners at St. Ann Catholic Church in Sonora, Texas, attending Mass every Sunday. They were both shared a beautiful devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. It can truly be said that they put their faith into action. They were honored to have been Godparents/Padrinos to 23 Godchildren between them. It can be said that they were truly “Godly people, setting a beautiful example for their Godchildren well into their adulthood. Mario and Amalia never met a stranger. All were welcomed in their home. Their generosity knew no bounds, as they constantly gave of what they had. They loved all their nieces and nephews, many of them seeing them as their second parents because of the depth of the love they received from their “Tía” and “Tío Bone.” Amalia babysat children for many years. These children, now adults and parents themselves, would often return to visit, grateful for the beautiful memories they had with her. Many of them also called her “Mom.” Indeed, these children found in Amalia a very pure and sweet love. Amalia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mario Y. Galindo, who passed away on November 8, 2018; her parents, Gabriel H. Mata, Sr. and Eugenia R. Mata; siblings, Gabriel Mata, Jr., Roberto Mata, Samuel Mata, Manuel Mata and Frances Reyna. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her loving daughter, Lori Aguirre and husband, Raymond Aguirre; her most precious granddaughter whom she adored, Raeann Aguirre of San Antonio TX; and older grandchildren Amanda and Aren. She is also missed by her sisters, Edwina Gandar and Jeannie Lozano, both of Sonora; and countless nieces and nephews whom she loved so very much. Services Viewing will be held at Love Funeral Home from 5 p.m on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Procession will depart Love Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sonora Cemetery.
